Mid Feather flue construction has been in use since Victorian times and comprise of thin, vertical walls of bricks that divide the flues within a chimney stack. 

Action Chimneys were called out to inspect a chimney relining project that had been carried out a number of months earlier while some some renovating were being carried out on the house. Action Chimneys often encounter chimneys that are "relined" by simply inserting a stainless steel flue down the inside of the existing clay flues which in turn  is then connected to a newly installed stove. To the home owner this type of flue installation appeared economical and looked like a top class job had been carried out however......

This house had a particularly bad chimney fire that required the removal of both flues from the chimney stack. Normally we find that a number of flues are cracked following a chimney fire but in this case practically ever flue inside the stack was cracked. Upon inspection we quickly realised that there was little to salvage from the existing chimney except the outer block structure.

Just when I thought I had seen it all along comes a story that had to be seen to be believed.

The owners of this building had a problem! No chimney relining company would undertake this potentially dangerous project. Action Chimneys undertook it and here's how we did it.
