Double flue removal from 1970's bungalow

This house had a particularly bad chimney fire that required the removal of both flues from the chimney stack. Normally we find that a number of flues are cracked following a chimney fire but in this case practically ever flue inside the stack was cracked. Upon inspection we quickly realised that there was little to salvage from the existing chimney except the outer block structure.

We started this chimney repair by erecting a dust proof tent that protects the interior of the house from dust. We use an air filter system that pumps and filters any dust generated inside while removing the building material and expelling it outside. Carpets, flooring and furnishings are also protected during our installation work.

We assembled our scaffolding and completely removed both existing flues and the filling material from top to bottom. Once complete we opened the chimney breast in the living room and began fitting the twin flues into position.
