Poor quality chimney repair
The owner of this property had a new stove installed in her house last year. Everything looked amazing except the stove would not light or draw. The owner called in a number of companies to check the install but none were interested in taking on the job.
Eventually the owner got in touch with Action Chimneys and we investigated the install and found the following. The contractor who installed the stove drilled a hole through the chimney breast and on through the flue and finally out through the back wall of the house.
He repeated this operation about 300mm to the side and then opened of the chimney breast and installed the stove before plastering over the hole. He placed two small bars inside the chimney breast to support the 3 tons of flue liners and rubble that was above.
REMIDEAL ACTION UNDERTAKEN
This chimney repair commenced with the construction of scaffolding, we then removed all the original flues and filling and completely relined the chimney with a flexible flue.
